5 Stylish Ways To Carry Your Things

I’ve noticed you guys really enjoy reading these type of posts so I’m planning to do them for every staple piece, every season because why the heck not. If you’ve missed the post about capes, it’s here and the post about the boots is here. Now that you’re set for reading/swooning material for the next few hours, let me talk about handbags a little.

Even though my greatest love fashion-wise is shoes, I do love a good handbag. I tend to invest in bags that I really really love, that I can wear with just about any outfit and that will last me for the rest of my life and I can like leave them for Alaska in my will. Of course, in between saving for the absolute dreamboats, I do buy more trend-centred, high-street steals of handbags that still fit all of my usual crap stuff in.

Geometric prints are one of the biggest trends for bags this season and they’re probably my favourite (that’s why they’re first on the list). I love how they’re simple but interesting at the same time and how a bag like that, can lift any outfit from boring to chic. The bags in this selection, as always, range from affordable to on-my-wishlist-for-when-I-win the lottery, so enjoy browsing, buying and dreaming. My favourite is the navy blue and white, Tory Burch one, it looks so Blair Waldorf-esque, I’m absolutely in love. The Valentino one is to-die-for as well, but let’s be honest, by the time I could afford a clutch for over 2k, it would probably be vintage and twice the price ha ha.

Left to RIght: Top Row: ALDO, £36; Clare V, £440; Tory Burch, £860. Bottom Row: J.W.Anderson, £850; Tory Burch, £860; Valentino, £2,425.

If the geometric prints aren’t autumn-y enough for you (yes, autumn-y is a word), then these fur handbags might be leaning towards winter more than autumn if that’s what you’re after. And you all know I love fur, so obviously furry handbags had to be included in this. I love the 3.1 Phillip Lim blue-ish furry handbag, it’s so brilliant I could live in it.

Left to Right: Top Row: Carlos by Carlos Santana, £81; Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, £196; Marc by Marc Jacobs, £410. Bottom Row: 3.1 Phillip Lim, £887; Rochas, £770; Givenchy, £5,952.

This handbag trend is a bit more of a micro-trend or just a slightly less popular one within high-street stores. I do love a nice pop of colour with any outfit and come on, the fringed yellow and blue bag is incredible, like I could happily carry it around for the rest of my life, even if they didn’t match my outfit. Yes, that’s how much I love it. The thistle coloured Kate Spade bag is also dreamy, especially the colour and if I was going to buy a pricey tote I’d definitely go for a Kate Spade one, rather than a Michael Kors one because I’ve seen them swinging on the arm of around 99% of the female population and I’m so sick of seeing them to be honest #sorrynotsorry.

Left to Right: Top Row: DKNY, £55; Kate Spade New York, £174; Kate Spade New York, £160. Bottom Row: Florian London, £265; Saint Laurent, £1,775; The Volon, £894.

Okay, this trend is pretty much a timeless one for Fall/Winter, I mean when is the last time you saw a bunch of slouchy ‘beach’ bags on the runway or on the streets in winter? I think partially, it’s down to the boxy bags being more water-proof because obviously snow and rain can put your handbag through hell.

My favourite one out of the selection is the Furla one for its gorgeous colour, it would make any simple outfit pop and look so much more polished and stylish, I’m in love! I also love the khaki Phillip Lim tote which is in their signature style but in the dreamy olive-green colour.

Left to Right: Top Row: Romwe, £10; River Island £58; Furla, £160. Bottom Row: 3.1 Phillip Lim, £525; Givenchy, £645; Givenchy, £1,290.

Last but not least, is the double-bagging trend. Basically, carrying more than one handbag at a time is a thing now which means if you have two handbags that you really love but can’t pick which one to carry with you (because they look similar) just wear them both! Now, this is the trend I’ve been rocking every day since I became a mum but now, instead of keeping the baby-gear bag at the bottom of the pram, I carry it around with my personal things bag, yay! Out of the ones I picked here, I love the maroon combo if you’re looking of a way to polish of a chic outfit and the other four are just gorgeous and pairing them together, mixing patterns and prints is the way to go.

First Pair: Top: Marie Turnor, £203; Bottom: Valentino, £1,747. Second Pair: Top: 3.1 Phillip Lim, £770; Bottom: Miu Miu, £820. Third Pair: Top: Kate Spade New York, £288; Bottom: Proenza Schouler, £815.

I personally go for a navy-blue Primark bag, sort of suitcase shaped but with curved edges and gold zips so it’s actually quite chic (especially for Primark) and I carry all of Alaska’s toddler gear in it and I’ve been using the same everyday handbag for years (unless I feel like mixing it up and actually have the time to move my junk into another bag) and it’s the Hermes Kelly in navy blue. It makes any outfit chicer and makes me feel more pulled together when carrying it. I was going to post a photo of my handbag combo but my camera decided to die on me *sob sob* so I will be using my sister’s camera soon (thank you!).

All in all, I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know which trend is your favourite? Which handbag have you been clutching in your arm lately?
